March Update
My Dear Friends,
It is with a grateful heart that I sit to write. 2025 ended beautifully and we are off to grand and busy start to 2026. Everyone is in school and doing the best they can, including our 7 college students.
In 2025, 7 students finished grade 12 and are in their year of service to AFCZ. I am so proud of them. They are turning into wonderful, helpful adults, and I can’t wait to learn what the future has in store for them.
With the older children graduating and a few family reintegrations, our numbers are down at Redemption House. This gives us time to concentrate on the development of our safe room and abuse counseling programs at the hospital. We have welcomed 7 children into the safe room and all but one have found homes or relatives to take them in.
One 17 year-old disabled boy named Totowa was found wandering along the river. Police brought him to the safe room stating he was deaf and mute. We quickly learned he is not deaf, but he does have seizures and a severe speech impediment. Totowa is now part of our permanent family at Mercy House at Kulanga Bana. We’ll get him the help he needs and hopefully, one day, he can tell us where he came from.
Kulanga Bana, our farm, is bursting with new children, good crops and baby animals on the way. We have some new staff and structuring to the programs at the farm. I am in the process of making sure there is infrastructure and personnel in place so they can continue the programs without me one day. It’s a big job, but I’ve got a great team, both the new hires and the core team that has been with us for many years. Read our full newsletter to learn about succession planning in the works.
All this happens because of you. Your generosity continues to support our growth and change, which in turn, allows the children’s growth and change. As you read about our staff, please remember that to keep good, qualified people on staff requires a big financial commitment. Please consider making your donation today. It’s a chance to change the lives of children so they can reach their dreams as adults. Thank you for taking such good care of us.
May God Bless you today and always,
Mama Carol and the children
